How to use the sequence

  1. Read the unit prerequisites and try a first problem. Start earlier if its method is unfamiliar.
  2. Work through supplied examples, explain each step and try the changed cases before opening their solutions.
  3. Use the guide and unit review to identify a specific skill to revisit. A correct multiple-choice answer is only part of the work.
  4. Try a subject test and keep your own practice notes. Ask an educator or trusted adult to review extended writing, speaking, projects or other performance work.

Coverage and educational requirements

These original materials are informed by public subject frameworks and sources. Links identify the references; this is not an official or independently certified standards alignment. U.S. school topic placement varies, especially for high-school subjects.

The Academy supports independent study and school learning. It is not an accredited school, does not issue graduation credit and has not been demonstrated to satisfy a complete local school-year or home-education program. A family or host must check its applicable requirements with the relevant school or authority.

Text problems cannot by themselves establish laboratory skills, spoken fluency, extended writing quality, musical performance, motor skills or successful project work. Those need suitable practice and human feedback. Lesson and test counts do not establish learning outcomes.

AI assists authoring and review. External resources retain their own terms; LifeStarter does not host copied Khan Academy lessons or imply affiliation. Younger learners can use the public materials with adult support; learner accounts and the Course Library remain ages 14+.

Topic selection draws on Common Core mathematics, English language arts, NGSS science, the C3 social studies framework and CSTA computer science, National Core Arts Standards, SHAPE health and physical education and Instituto Cervantes Spanish topic inventories. Lesson pages link the content references for their specific topics.
