Terms & conditions · Updated September 2026

A clear agreement
for useful learning.

These Terms of Use explain how to use The Life Starter's free program and Open Library, what you can expect from the service, and how to keep the learning space safe for everyone.

Plain-language terms

Start with a free account. Learn at your pace. Keep your work yours.

By creating an account or using the site, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not create an account or use account-only features. Questions about personal data can be sent through the privacy-request form.

01

Who the service is for

The Life Starter is a practical learning service for people building skills for work, learning, and everyday adult life. The program is recommended for ages 16–24 and is open to other learners. The service is not designed for children under 13. If you are under the age of majority where you live, use the service with a parent or guardian's knowledge and permission when required.

02

Accounts and free access

You can browse the Open Library without an account. A free account is required to save a personal program workspace, progress, checks, projects, and follow-ups. Learner access is provided at no charge; there is no application, partner code, or paid gate to start. Provide accurate information, keep your sign-in details private, and tell us if you believe your account has been used without permission.

03

Educational information

The lessons, tools, and links are general educational information. They are not a school, accredited course, professional license, or individualized legal, financial, medical, mental-health, immigration, employment, or tax advice. Check current rules and consult a qualified professional for decisions that require one. We do not promise a job, income, admission, credential, credit outcome, or other life result.

04

Your work and submissions

You keep ownership of the notes, plans, project work, and other material you create. You give The Life Starter permission to store, process, display back to you, and back up that material as needed to provide and protect the service. Submit only material you have the right to share, and do not include passwords, payment-card numbers, government identification numbers, or other sensitive information that a lesson does not require.

05

Respectful and safe use

Do not use the service to break the law, impersonate someone, harass another person, upload harmful or infringing material, probe or bypass security, scrape private records, send high-volume automated requests, or interfere with another learner's access. We may limit or suspend access when necessary to protect people, data, or the service, and we will keep the action proportionate where practical.

06

Links and third-party services

Some lessons use YouTube videos and links to government, nonprofit, education, and other external resources. Those services have their own terms and privacy practices. A link is provided to help you learn; it is not a guarantee, sponsorship claim, or endorsement of every third-party statement or offer. Review the destination before sharing information or acting on it.

07

Availability and changes

We work to keep The Life Starter useful and available, but no online service is uninterrupted or error-free. We may repair, improve, reorganize, or temporarily pause features. The learner experience and Open Library are currently always free. If a material change affects access, we will explain it on the site when reasonably possible.

08

Privacy, ending use, and updates

Our Privacy Policy explains what account and learning information is stored, how it is protected, and how to request access, correction, or deletion. You may stop using the service at any time. We may revise these terms as the product changes; the updated date will appear here. Continuing to use the service after an update means you accept the revised terms.
