These Terms of Use explain how to use The Life Starter's free program and Course Library, what you can expect from the service, and how to keep the learning space safe for everyone.

By creating an account or using the site, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not create an account or use account-only features. Questions about personal data can be sent through the privacy-request form.
By visiting the site, creating an account, or using an account-only feature, you agree to these Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy. The Life Starter is for ages 14+, with no upper age limit. People under 14 must not create accounts or submit personal information. Learners aged 14–17 must have a parent or guardian’s permission to create an account. Other consent requirements may apply where you live or in an organizational program.
The Course Library can be browsed without an account. A free account is needed to save personal progress, checks, projects, and follow-ups. Give accurate information, use one account for yourself, keep your password private, and contact us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access. Verification and password-reset emails are currently unavailable. You can create an account, sign in, and save progress. Keep your password in a trusted password manager. Lessons, calculators, quizzes, videos, and links are general educational information. They are not legal, financial, tax, medical, mental-health, immigration, employment, academic, or other professional advice, and they do not create a client, student, fiduciary, or employment relationship. We do not promise a job, income, admission, credential, academic credit, license, or other result. Check current rules and ask a qualified professional before making a high-stakes decision. Course completions, knowledge-check scores, projects, confidence ratings, and follow-ups record different kinds of learning activity. Learner self-review is recorded separately from staff review. Knowledge checks are curriculum-based and have not been independently validated as standardized assessments. The curriculum has not yet been evaluated in a controlled learning-outcomes study. These records do not establish a recognized credential or independently verified employment outcome.
You keep ownership of notes, plans, answers, project work, and other material you submit. You give The Life Starter a limited, non-exclusive permission to receive, store, process, display back to you, secure, and back up that material only as needed to operate, troubleshoot, and improve the service as described in the Privacy Policy. Do not submit material you do not have the right to share or information a lesson does not require.
Do not break the law, impersonate another person, harass or harm someone, infringe rights, upload malicious code, probe or bypass security, scrape private records, send abusive automated traffic, or interfere with another learner's access. We may limit or suspend access when reasonably necessary to protect people, data, or the service, while handling reports and appeals in a proportionate way where practical.
The service embeds or links to YouTube and other third-party resources. Those providers control their own content, availability, terms, and privacy practices. A link helps you explore a topic; it is not a promise, sponsorship, or endorsement of every statement, offer, job, school, or service at the destination. Review the destination before sharing information or acting on it. Linked institutions, including universities and government agencies, have not endorsed or accredited The Life Starter. External resources remain subject to their publishers’ access, registration, licensing, and certificate terms. The Life Starter’s required practice is free.
The learner experience is currently available at no charge and has no application, partner-code, or paid gate. We may repair, reorganize, add, remove, or pause features, including for security or maintenance. You may stop using the service at any time. We may close or restrict an account for a serious or repeated violation, fraud, security risk, or legal requirement, and we will provide notice when reasonably possible.
Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why we use it, how account work stays private, and how to request access, correction, or deletion. We may send transactional messages about verification, password recovery, security, service changes, or a request you made. We do not require marketing consent to use the program, and we do not sell learner data or use it for targeted advertising.
If you believe the service caused a problem, email thelifestarter@gmail.com with enough detail for us to investigate. We ask that you give us 30 days to try to resolve the issue informally before starting a formal proceeding. This request does not waive a deadline or right that applicable law says cannot be waived, and it is not a promise that every dispute can be resolved informally.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the site, content, tools, links, and communications are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of uninterrupted access, accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or a particular outcome. We do not guarantee that every third-party resource will remain current or available.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Life Starter and its service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or lost-profit damages arising from the service. Our total liability for claims connected to the service will not exceed the greater of $100 USD or the amount you paid us for the service during the 12 months before the event. Nothing limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including rights that are non-waivable in your jurisdiction.
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend and reimburse The Life Starter for third-party claims, losses, and reasonable costs caused by your material breach of these terms, unlawful use, or content you submit that infringes another person's rights. This does not require you to reimburse us for our own negligence, willful misconduct, or a responsibility that the law does not permit us to shift.
Updates. We may revise these terms as the service changes. The effective date above will change when we publish a new version. If a change materially affects account use, we will provide notice where reasonably possible. Continuing to use the service after the effective date means you accept the updated terms; if you do not, stop using the service and contact us.
Severability and assignment. If a provision is unenforceable, it will be narrowed or removed only to the extent necessary, and the rest will remain in effect. We may transfer these terms as part of a lawful business reorganization. You may not transfer your account to another person.
Applicable law and forum. These terms are interpreted under the law that applies to the parties and dispute. Any court or forum must have lawful jurisdiction. Nothing in these terms waives consumer, minor, accessibility, privacy, or other rights that applicable law makes non-waivable.
Entire agreement. These terms, the Privacy Policy, and any specific terms shown for a feature are the agreement about the service. They replace earlier descriptions of the same service, except for a written agreement we expressly sign.
