Practical skills.
Good tools and a little practice can make the next decision clearer.
About The Life Starter
The Life Starter helps people build or rebuild the practical foundation for work and everyday life, with a particular focus on the transition into adulthood. We bring practical learning, useful tools, and a clear plan together so the next step feels possible.
Built with young adults in mind. The Course Library and accounts are for ages 14+, with no upper age limit. Academy offers separate supplementary guest practice for younger learners with adult support.

Good tools and a little practice can make the next decision clearer.
Follow a question. Learn something you didn’t know you needed.
Build useful skills and good habits, one small step at a time.
Bring your starting point. Make room for someone else’s.
Starting adult life can feel like being handed the responsibility without the instructions. A first paycheck, a job search, a new home, or a change in direction all come with decisions that are easier to face with a little preparation.
The Life Starter helps you choose a goal, break it into manageable steps, and practice the skills behind it. Build a budget you understand, a résumé you can send, a work sample you can explain, and a plan you can return to.
The Course Library offers 304 free courses, each built around a practical need, useful practice, and a real outcome. It stays open for preparation, extra practice, and continued learning.
A review of 138 studies involving nearly 20,000 people found that monitoring progress helped people achieve their goals. Studies in which progress was recorded showed larger effects.
That idea shapes The Life Starter: choose a goal, make something useful, and keep a record of what you’ve done. Your plan and saved progress give you a place to pick up again.

Start with a decision a learner may face: managing a paycheck, comparing training, preparing for a job, or using a work tool.
The goal calls for connected decisions, guided practice, and a useful result.
A learner can complete the route and leave with evidence: a plan, project, routine, or demonstrated skill.
Important claims draw on primary or authoritative sources that learners can check.
Relevant organizations can support the topic without buying the curriculum or interrupting the learning flow.
We look for decisions that arrive early in adult life, carry real consequences, and can be taught through authoritative guidance plus useful practice. The newest foundation series covers housing, education costs, workplace rights, career choice, health care, mental health support, relationships, scams, contracts, and asking for help. Workforce Foundations adds work readiness, everyday digital operations, academic preparation, and pathway navigation for adults who are between jobs or looking for a stronger next step.

Every course links to primary or authoritative references, marks topic-specific cautions, and shows when its sources were reviewed.
Every lesson includes a short knowledge check and a concrete deliverable, so reading and demonstrated work remain separate.
Knowledge checks show your understanding of the curriculum. Projects give you a place to apply it and build on feedback.
