A task-training packet with a worked demonstration, guided practice, independent assessment, feedback, and a follow-up plan.

Keep your working files in your own notebook or software. Save a private description, checklist, and work link in My Proof.

What to include

  • A needs brief distinguishing the task skill from the resource barrier.
  • An observable objective and four-check assessment checklist.
  • A four-part demonstration script with visible comparisons and final evidence.
  • A guided-practice card, targeted prompt, and corrected response.
  • A scored two-card assessment with reasons and a bounded result.
  • A revised training packet with follow-up evidence, resource action, and two planned recheck cases.

Review and revise

Use these criteria to check your work and choose what to improve.

  • Every required section is present and traceable to the supplied case facts.
  • Decisions separate known facts, assumptions, and unresolved questions.
  • Records, calculations, and instructions agree with each other and the stated rules.
  • The final revision addresses a changed case and explains what someone should do next.

The idea in everyday life

Fictional North Room booking policy: each request needs its ID, date, start/end times, headcount, and whether step-free access is needed. Duration is end time minus start time and must be at most 120 minutes. Birch holds 12 and has steps; Elm holds 20 and has step-free access. Select the smallest available room that meets headcount and access needs. Missing facts go to requester clarification. Excess duration or no suitable available room goes pending to Lee. Only after all checks pass, record the booking ID and matching confirmation. Independent cards: A1 June 20, 09:00–10:00, 8 attendees, no step-free need, both rooms free; next ID B43. A2 June 21, 09:00–12:00, 8 attendees, no step-free need, both rooms free. Sam’s supplied independent responses: A1 checks every field, calculates 60 minutes, selects Birch and records matching B43 confirmation. A2 checks every field, calculates 180 minutes and records Pending—duration exceeds 120; Lee owns decision; no booking. Four checks per card: complete information; correct duration handling; correct room/availability handling or justified stop before selection; matching booking evidence or pending reason/owner. All four on both cards must pass.

The idea

Readiness is a claim about demonstrated performance under stated conditions.

Assess an unseen task — guided practice

Use explicit criteria on independent responses.

Use a text editor, a free document editor, or paper. Start from the following fictional records; they reset this lesson even if your earlier answer differed. 1. 1. Score A1

Compare the response with each of the four checks.

You should see: Four passes for A1.

A result must agree with the specified standard.

  2. 2. Score A2

Check the stop decision without demanding an inappropriate room booking.

You should see: Four passes for A2; pending is the correct result.

Correctly handling an exception is successful task performance.

  3. 3. Record conditions

State that these are independent supplied simulation responses with job aids allowed.

You should see: Two cards, eight passes, current aids available.

Conditions limit what the assessment evidence establishes.

  4. 4. Write the assessment decision

State the result and its scope.

You should see: Passes this simulated two-card assessment; workplace follow-up remains planned.

A small assessment is not evidence of every future case.

Now change one thing

A changed A2 response confirms a room despite its 180-minute duration. Under the all-checks rule, enter Pass or Retry.

Your work

What to finish

A scored two-card assessment with reasons and a bounded result.

Common mistake

Watch for this

Failing a learner for an appropriate pending decision or claiming universal competence from two examples.

How can I tell I understand it?

Check your result against the worked example, then explain the changed case without using an unstated assumption.

1A task requires escalating an incomplete record. The learner escalates correctly instead of finishing it. How should this be scored?
2An independent assessment repeats the exact demonstrated case and answer. What concrete improvement tests transfer?
3A learner passes two sample cases. Which report is supported?
