An original fictional partner-pilot readiness packet with purpose and roles, learner-access/privacy questions, delivery schedule, evidence definitions, staged launch gates and a review/exit agreement.

Keep your working files in your own notebook or software. Save a private description, checklist, and work link in My Proof.

What to include

  • Define the fictional purpose, controlled outputs and excluded promises.
  • Assign operational and authorized decision owners plus escalation routes.
  • Separate practical access, permission and minimal-data questions.
  • Show capacity/time calculations and evidence-linked launch/hold gates.
  • Include proposed review/exit terms and an accurate unsent handoff.

Review and revise

Use these criteria to check your work and choose what to improve.

  • The two-organization scope and owners are specific and consistent.
  • Data collection and access claims match the stated purpose and actual evidence.
  • Staffing/time units reconcile and changed enrollment is handled honestly.
  • Draft, unresolved, completed and reviewed stages are labeled accurately.

The idea in everyday life

Fictional Alder School and Juniper Employer are considering four 45-minute practice sessions for 12 learners. Each session has 35 minutes of activity and 10 minutes of feedback. The supplied staffing rule is at most six learners per facilitator. Two facilitators are available. Each needs 10 setup minutes before each session. School lead S owns learner access and institutional permission decisions; employer lead E owns staff availability and workplace examples; program lead P owns curriculum support and evidence definitions. All people and organizations are fictional. This is an unsent planning exercise, not an actual LifeStarter partnership or an executed agreement. Supplied draft fields: learner alias, session date, task-review status, full birth date, home address and private family notes. The task review needs only alias, date and status. No real information is entered.

The idea

Being able to open a page does not establish permission to participate or share data. Check access, institutional requirements and each proposed data flow separately.

Separate access consent and data questions — supplied practice

  1. 1. Check the access route

List a usable device/browser route, keyboard route and paper fallback; mark untested routes unverified.

You should see: Access is a practical check, with a paper task fallback and no false test result.

A reachable page alone does not prove the form or saved journey works.

  2. 2. Route permissions

Record a question for S about host participation rules and covered student-record requirements; do not answer it by assuming consent or declaring compliance.

You should see: The permission/legal-basis question stays open for qualified host review.

FERPA is relevant to covered U.S. educational institutions, not a universal label applied by this exercise.

  3. 3. Minimize the fields

Keep alias, session date and task-review status; remove full birth date, address and private family notes from this draft.

You should see: Three relevant fields remain.

Collecting extra sensitive information creates risk without helping the stated review.

  4. 4. Draw a minimal data flow

Write who enters, who can see, where records are retained and who decides retention/deletion; leave unknown settings pending.

You should see: S/P must resolve authorized access and retention before launch.

Data minimization does not by itself settle access or storage decisions.

Now change one thing

The authorized host adds one necessary field: requested material format (paper or digital), with a stated delivery purpose. Alias, session date and review status remain needed; birth date, address and family notes remain unnecessary. How many fields are retained?

Your work

What to finish

A three-part access, permission and minimal-data checklist with unresolved owners.

Common mistake

Watch for this

Treating device access or a consent checkbox as proof that all institutional and privacy conditions are resolved.

How can I tell I understand it?

Unknown sharing, retention and legal-basis decisions are routed rather than guessed.
