The idea in everyday life
Use common-room-final.odt. Target deliverables: the ODT source, a two-page PDF, plain-text copy and a brief handoff note.
An export is a new artifact that must be checked independently of the editing view.
Export a readable publication — guided practice
Make and inspect a PDF while retaining the source.
Use common-room-final.odt. Target deliverables: the ODT source, a two-page PDF, plain-text copy and a brief handoff note.
1. Step 1
Choose File > Export As > Export as PDF. On General choose all pages, enable Tagged PDF and Export outlines if offered; export common-room-final.pdf.
You should see: A separate PDF has been created with document structure enabled.
Establish the document structure.
2. Step 2
Open the PDF in another viewer. Confirm exactly two pages, the four quick details and the correct times. Try selecting a paragraph and inspect the heading outline if available.
You should see: The PDF contains two readable pages and selectable text.
Apply a repeatable formatting rule.
3. Step 3
Check that no comments, placeholder text or unexpected blank page appears. If something fails, repair the ODT and export again.
You should see: Export issues are corrected at the source.
Inspect the reader-facing result.
4. Step 4
Package the ODT, PDF, original text and correction log. State fonts used and any accessibility checks still needed; do not claim standards certification merely because a checkbox was selected.
You should see: The publication handoff preserves editability and the checked output.
Preserve the source and its evidence.
What to finish
The publication handoff preserves editability and the checked output.
