The idea in everyday life
Harbor policy requires fictional referral ID, authorized clinician, destination, assigned priority and callback task owner. F1: ID F1, clinician Lee, destination blank, routine, owner Jo. F2: ID F2, clinician Lee, destination Cedar Service, routine, owner Jo. Policy: missing fields = PENDING; complete records can be READY. Jo cannot choose a clinical destination.
Complete information and clinical appropriateness are different checks.
Check referral completeness — guided practice
Identify missing administrative fields without guessing.
Use a text editor, a free document editor, or paper. Start from the following fictional records; they reset this lesson even if your earlier answer differed. Harbor policy requires fictional referral ID, authorized clinician, destination, assigned priority and callback task owner. F1: ID F1, clinician Lee, destination blank, routine, owner Jo. F2: ID F2, clinician Lee, destination Cedar Service, routine, owner Jo. Policy: missing fields = PENDING; complete records can be READY. Jo cannot choose a clinical destination.
1. Create a five-field screen
List the five required administrative fields.
You should see: ID, clinician, destination, priority, owner.
A consistent screen reduces omissions.
2. Check F1
Mark only the missing field and identify who supplies it.
You should see: Destination missing; Lee supplies or confirms it.
The assistant should not infer a specialist from a diagnosis.
3. Check F2
Compare every field with the screen.
You should see: F2 is complete and READY for the approved sending process.
Ready means administratively complete, not clinically endorsed by Jo.
4. Log next action
Write F1’s pending reason and owner.
You should see: F1 PENDING—destination confirmation with Lee.
The blocker should be visible and assigned.
What to finish
A completeness screen with pending reasons and owners.
Watch for this
