The idea in everyday life

Fictional community club needs three icons: book, ticket and chat. Use original geometric drawings. Specification: 64×64 px tiles; 8 px outer margin; 4 px dark stroke; no fill; export SVG and PNG.

The idea

A consistent icon family shares geometry, spacing and visual weight.

Define a small graphics family — guided practice

Set a repeatable canvas and style specification.

Fictional community club needs three icons: book, ticket and chat. Use original geometric drawings. Specification: 64×64 px tiles; 8 px outer margin; 4 px dark stroke; no fill; export SVG and PNG.

  1. 1. Step 1

Create a new Inkscape document. Open File > Document Properties; set display units px and custom page width 64, height 64. Save club-book.svg. Before entering object positions or dimensions, open Edit > Preferences > Tools and select Geometric bounding box. This keeps the stated path dimensions independent of stroke thickness.

You should see: A 64×64 px SVG exists.

    Set a reproducible starting state.

  2. 2. Step 2

Open Object > Fill and Stroke. Set stroke paint to RGBA 202938 ff, stroke width 4 px and fill to none for the first object.

You should see: A dark 4 px stroke is defined.

Use editable geometry and explicit values.

  3. 3. Step 3

Write the usable region: from x8 to 56 and y8 to 56. Note that centered strokes extend 2 px beyond a path.

You should see: A 48×48 px content box guides placement.

Check the result against the visual specification.

  4. 4. Step 4

Draw a rough book with two rectangles inside the margin. Keep text out of the icons. Save the style note.

You should see: The brief fixes three symbols and common styling.

Preserve evidence for the next stage.

Now change one thing

A 72 px tile has 10 px margins at both sides. What usable width remains in px?

Watch for this

Do not substitute a screenshot for the editable SVG.
