The idea in everyday life

Open club-book.svg. Delete the rough drawing. Target two adjoining 20×32 px pages at x12, y16 and x32, y16 with 4 px strokes; use the selector toolbar to enter dimensions and position in px.

The idea

Simple editable parts are easier to revise than a large number of hand-drawn points.

Build a book from editable shapes — guided practice

Use rectangles and stroke controls to build a clear symbol.

Open club-book.svg. Delete the rough drawing. Target two adjoining 20×32 px pages at x12, y16 and x32, y16 with 4 px strokes; use the selector toolbar to enter dimensions and position in px.

  1. 1. Step 1

Choose Rectangle and drag a rectangle. Switch to Selector; enter X 12, Y16, W20, H32 with width/height lock off.

You should see: First page bounds are 20×32 px.

    Set a reproducible starting state.

  2. 2. Step 2

Set fill none and stroke 202938 ff, width 4 px. Duplicate with Ctrl+D and set X 32, Y16.

You should see: Second page is the same size.

Use editable geometry and explicit values.

  3. 3. Step 3

Select both shapes and inspect the shared seam. Convert to paths only if required later; keep these rectangles editable now.

You should see: Two pages share an edge at x32.

Check the result against the visual specification.

  4. 4. Step 4

Save the SVG. Zoom to 100% and confirm the book reads as two pages without a text label.

You should see: The symbol is readable at its intended display size.

Preserve evidence for the next stage.

Now change one thing

Each page is 18 px wide and they touch. What is the combined path width in px?

Your work

What to finish

The symbol is readable at its intended display size. Save the corresponding source and notes.

Common mistake

Watch for this

Do not substitute a screenshot for the editable SVG.

How can I tell I understand it?

Explain the result, reproduce the procedure, and complete the changed-input check.
