Review: Naming, Doing and Describing
Apply find a naming word, find an action word, find a describing word, use position words using supplied texts and original responses.
Bring the unit skills together
Use these 4 new cases to check your reasoning. Choices are temporary and are not saved to an account, sent to staff or recorded as school grades. Download your current review choices before leaving or reloading.
The download contains your current choices and any checked feedback. Keep the separate transfer-task work in your own document; downloading its instructions does not mark it complete.
Use the skills in a new task
Make a short complete response demonstrating the four skills in this unit. Draw a green hat inside a box. Dictate: I lift the green hat inside the box. Identify hat as the noun, lift as the action, green as the description and inside as the position. Longer writing targets in optional extensions can be completed in a later session.
Work on paper or in your own document. Explain the choices you made.
- Listen to the whole sentence and find the object that someone can hold, move or see. Say its name.
- Listen for what the person does to the object. You may safely mime reading or lifting an imaginary object.
- Find the named object, then listen for the color attached to it. Describe the object with both words.
- Draw two simple objects and place one according to the stated word. Check that the drawing matches rather than reverses the relationship.
Compare with a model response
My drawing shows a green hat inside a box. My sentence is: I lift the green hat inside the box. Hat names the object, lift tells the action, green describes its color and inside tells its position compared with the box. The hat goes within the box’s boundary, rather than beside or underneath it. An adult can write my dictated sentence.
A different response can also meet the criteria. Compare the evidence and reasoning, rather than copying the wording.
