Do not choose a color as the action. Find a describing word: Red tells its color. A color is not the object name. Use position words: Beside places it next to the box. Beside does not mean inside.
Make a practice plan
- Practice find a naming word: Listen to the whole sentence and find the object that someone can hold, move or see. Say its name.
- Practice find an action word: Listen for what the person does to the object. You may safely mime reading or lifting an imaginary object.
- Practice find a describing word: Find the named object, then listen for the color attached to it. Describe the object with both words.
- Practice use position words: Draw two simple objects and place one according to the stated word. Check that the drawing matches rather than reverses the relationship.
