Learn the idea

Location words describe one place in relation to another. Near and far need a comparison. Between means a place is in the middle of two others in the stated arrangement. Inside means within a boundary. Our paper arrangements do not claim real-world distances.

Near: close to the stated reference place. Far: a long way from the stated reference place. Between: in the middle of two stated places. Inside: within the stated boundary.

Find the two places named on the card. Notice whether one is close, far away, between two places or inside a boundary. Ask an adult to read the notes and cards aloud. Point, draw or say your answer.
