Review: Relationships, stress and digital boundaries

Use evidence to distinguish safe conflict, control, privacy and appropriate support.

Unit review questions
1. Distinguish conflict from controlling behavior: A person demands that a friend stop seeing all other friends and threatens retaliation. What fits?
Need a hint?
  • Describe actions instead of diagnosing intentions or personality.
  • Threats and surveillance need support; do not negotiate away a safety boundary.
2. Protect privacy in a digital health exchange: A message agreed for one helper is forwarded to everyone. What fits?
Need a hint?
  • A new audience or purpose is a new disclosure decision.
  • A general lesson does not require a personal medical record.
3. Separate manageable stress from support needs: A safe project has known instructions and an overwhelming number of steps. Which fits?
Need a hint?
  • Read duration, daily impact and safety facts rather than diagnosing a label.
  • A planning tool cannot replace qualified care or emergency protection.
4. Support a peer without becoming their clinician: A peer asks for a medication plan from another student. What fits?
Need a hint?
  • Peer support is not clinical diagnosis or treatment.
  • Do not promise absolute secrecy or manage serious danger alone.

Use the skills in a new task

A fictional peer is pressured for a private image, the usual helper is absent and ongoing distress affects ordinary activities. Build a bounded support script and route.

Work on paper or in your own document. Explain the choices you made.

  • Use the supplied facts without personal disclosures.
  • Apply at least two methods from this unit.
  • Show the sequence, calculation or evidence behind the decision.
  • Include a relevant boundary, help step or accessible alternative.
Compare with a model response

Say the image does not have to be shared, acknowledge the pressure and use a backup responsible adult. Qualified support can address ongoing distress; no disorder is diagnosed. Do not request the image, publish the story or promise absolute secrecy. Immediate serious danger uses emergency help.

A different response can also meet the criteria. Compare the evidence and reasoning, rather than copying the wording.
