Supplied materials

  • Paper or a text document; all cases below are original fictional learning inputs.
  • An adult may read aloud; drawing or spoken answers are valid. No personal health information or physical performance is required.
  • The criterion is pointing toward the target, but the arrow faces left while the target is right. Change the arrow direction first. Enlarging the target may change difficulty, but it does not explain the original wrong-side direction. Recheck whether the new arrow heads toward the target. Keep the paper-only limit rather than claiming that a real throw would necessarily succeed.
  • The target is right, but the arrow points left. Which first repair fits?
  • The agreed access rule requires a larger paper target than the one shown. Which fits?
  • A path reaches the target but crosses a chair. Which fits?
  • The direction criterion is met; a comment gives no other evidence. What fits?
  • An arrow points down while the target is above. Which repair fits?
  • A clear route is too narrow under the supplied space criterion. Which repair fits?

Learn the idea

A useful model revision changes the feature connected to the observed error. Direction, target size and route clearance are different features. Changing several at once makes it harder to know which change addressed the problem.

First state the criterion and evidence. Choose one relevant repair, then compare the new model with the same criterion. A successful paper revision does not mean a real body or object will perform identically; model assumptions remain important.

Use fictional drawings. A learner may explain or draw the change without physical action. Do not ask anyone to repeat a painful, risky or inaccessible movement. An adult handles real activity safety and appropriate adaptations.

  1. Read or listen to the pretend story. Point to the details the question gives you.
  2. Find the feature the question is checking. Draw one repair, then compare it with the same rule again; no real throw or movement is tested.
  3. Check your answer against the example. Say what matches and what you would change.
  4. Try the practice questions, then the extra task. Drawing or spoken answers are welcome.
Worked example

See the method in action

The criterion is pointing toward the target, but the arrow faces left while the target is right. Change the arrow direction first. Enlarging the target may change difficulty, but it does not explain the original wrong-side direction. Recheck whether the new arrow heads toward the target. Keep the paper-only limit rather than claiming that a real throw would necessarily succeed.

Helpful tips
  • Match the repair to the observed error.
  • Use the same criterion after revision; do not confuse paper success with physical mastery.
Change one feature and recheck: The target is right, but the arrow points left. Which first repair fits?

Feedback appears here after you check. This is practice, not a graded school assessment.

See the answer and explanation

Change direction because the arrow points away from the target.

Direction is the observed mismatch.

Take it further

Given a rightward target and leftward arrow, draw one repair and one recheck. Expected: rightward arrow and direction comparison; no claim that a real throw was tested.

More practice: try new cases

Choose an answer for each problem. Explain your method on paper, then use the feedback to decide what to revisit.
