Learn the idea
A common U.S. school model names seven continents: Africa, Antarctica, Asia, Europe, North America, South America and Australia. Different traditions group continents differently. A continent is not a country. This lesson compares four of those continents; the next cards teach the others and major oceans.
Africa: the continent containing Egypt and Kenya. Asia: the continent containing China and India. Europe: the continent containing France and Poland. South America: the continent containing Brazil and Peru.
Find the country named on the card in the notes. Read which continent contains it. Ask an adult to read the notes and cards aloud. Point, draw or say your answer. These are word descriptions of pictures and places; no picture or map is supplied or needed.
