Supplied materials

  • Paper or a text document; all cases below are original fictional learning inputs.
  • An adult may read aloud; drawing or spoken answers are valid. No personal health information or physical performance is required.
  • The supplied sequence is point-wave-rest. Reversing it produces rest-wave-point: the middle wave stays in the middle, while the ends swap. Repeating the original twice produces six action cards, point-wave-rest-point-wave-rest. A diagram with only point-wave-rest-point repeats an incomplete group and does not meet the stated rule. The card total differs from the number of complete repeats. The card total is different from the repeat count.
  • The instruction asks for the original point-wave-rest group once. Which fits?
  • The instruction asks to reverse point-wave-rest. Which fits?
  • The instruction asks for the original group twice. Which fits?
  • The strip specifies first point and last rest but leaves the middle blank. What fits?
  • A new rule asks for rest-wave-point after reversing the original. Which fits?
  • A new rule asks for two complete original groups, not just a fourth card. Which fits?

Learn the idea

A three-action sequence has a beginning, middle and end. The cards might show point, wave and rest. An accurate plan keeps the specified order even when different learners draw or describe the actions differently.

Number the cards one, two and three. A reversal swaps the first and last; it does not remove the middle. A repeat copies the whole ordered group. Use start and stop cues around the plan so the model has clear boundaries.

No physical performance is needed. A seated drawing or spoken plan is complete. Optional comfortable actions require adult-approved clear space, and anyone may stop. We judge card order rather than speed, flexibility or body appearance.

  1. Read or listen to the pretend story. Point to the details the question gives you.
  2. Number the three cards. Draw them in the order requested, copying the whole group for a repeat and keeping START and STOP outside it.
  3. Check your answer against the example. Say what matches and what you would change.
  4. Try the practice questions, then the extra task. Drawing or spoken answers are welcome.
Worked example

See the method in action

The supplied sequence is point-wave-rest.

Helpful tips
  • Repeating means copying every card in the group.
  • Reverse changes order; it does not remove a card.
Combine three action cards: The instruction asks for the original point-wave-rest group once. Which fits?

Feedback appears here after you check. This is practice, not a graded school assessment.

See the answer and explanation

Point-wave-rest is the original ordered group.

All three actions occur in the original order.

Take it further

Draw wave-point-rest three times. Expected: nine cards in three identical groups, with START and STOP outside them.

More practice: try new cases

Choose an answer for each problem. Explain your method on paper, then use the feedback to decide what to revisit.
