Review: Read Original Notices and Short Messages
A short notice or message is useful when the reader can identify its action, time, place and conditions without inventing extra details. These original supplied records give all facts needed, with glosses for the less familiar vocabulary.
Bring the unit skills together
Use these 4 new cases to check your reasoning. Choices are temporary and are not saved to an account, sent to staff or recorded as school grades. Download your current review choices before leaving or reloading.
The download contains your current choices and any checked feedback. Keep the separate transfer-task work in your own document; downloading its instructions does not mark it complete.
Use the skills in a new task
Create a four-part Spanish practice sheet from the following supplied situations. 1. Original notice: “Taller de dibujo. Lunes, 18:00. Sala 7. Trae papel.” Glosses: taller=workshop; club=club; lectura=reading; dibujo=drawing; música=music; escritura=writing; juegos=games; sala=room; trae=bring; papel=paper; entrada gratis=free entry; para adultos=for adults. What is explicitly known rather than guessed? Candidate answers: (A) Every visitor enjoyed it (B) Participants already know drawing (C) The teacher is famous (D) The workshop names room 7. 2. Original message: “No puedo ir hoy. Puedo ir el viernes.” Glosses: llego=I arrive; reunión=meeting; mañana=tomorrow; hoy=today; azul=blue; rojo=red; puerta=door; ventana=window; abierta=open; cerrada=closed; después=afterward; empieza=starts; termina=ends; necesito=I need; cuadernos=notebooks; puedo=I can. Identify the stated available day. Candidate answers: (A) Every day (B) Friday (C) Monday (D) Today. 3. Original fictional menu, amounts in practice units: Pasta:8. Fruta:4. Leche:2. Glossary: agua=water; pan=bread; fruta=fruit; té=tea; leche=milk; arroz=rice; sopa=soup; ensalada=salad; jugo=juice; pasta=pasta. What listed amount belongs to milk? Candidate answers: (A) 1 unit (B) 2 units (C) 4 units (D) 9 units. 4. Original fictional notice: “Inscripción hasta el viernes. El taller es el sábado.” Glosses: abierta=open; cerrada=closed; solo=only; lectura=reading; juegos=games; adultos=adults; niños=children; gratis=free; antes=before; otra=other; inscripción=registration; hasta=until. Identify the stated registration cutoff. Candidate answers: (A) Friday (B) Saturday (C) Sunday (D) The cutoff is unstated.
Work on paper or in your own document. Explain the choices you made.
- Use the exact supplied situation and speaker rather than personal details.
- Show the relevant word ending, evidence phrase, time cue or meaning distinction.
- Write all four requested results with accents and punctuation.
- Explain one rejected alternative and check that meaning remains faithful to the input.
Compare with a model response
1. The workshop names room 7. Sala 7 is printed, while enjoyment, teacher reputation and prior ability are not stated. Use that printed phrase as evidence rather than infer unstated outcomes. 2. Friday. The negative rejects today and the positive names el viernes. Preserve negation and the relationship between the target word and its clause. 3. 2 units. Match milk to its Spanish glossary label, then read that label’s colon entry in “Pasta:8. Fruta:4. Leche:2.”. The stated amount is 2 units. No addition or assumption about real prices is needed. 4. Friday. Hasta el viernes attaches to inscripción; Saturday is the separate workshop day. Keep this condition separate from the other printed information.
A different response can also meet the criteria. Compare the evidence and reasoning, rather than copying the wording.
