Use the skills in a new task
Make a short complete response demonstrating the four skills in this unit. Use fictional Jo, whose pronoun is they, to write: Jo will draw two boxes. Replace Jo with They, circle will draw, underline plural boxes, and add a period. Say why the action is future and boxes means more than one. Longer writing targets in optional extensions can be completed in a later session.
Work on paper or in your own document. Explain the choices you made.
- Find the subject description. Replace the name with its stated pronoun and retain the action.
- Locate the action expression and use its ending or will to choose the time. Do not change the sentence while classifying it.
- Read the highlighted noun, check its ending and notice any quantity word. Tell whether it names one or several.
- Read the sentence aloud, identify its purpose and add exactly one suitable ending mark.
Compare with a model response
Jo will draw two boxes. They will draw two boxes. The second sentence uses Jo’s supplied pronoun they. Will draw states future action. Boxes is a plural noun, and two confirms more than one. The period finishes a telling sentence. I do not replace Jo’s stated pronoun by guessing from the name, and I keep the future helper when substituting the subject.
A different response can also meet the criteria. Compare the evidence and reasoning, rather than copying the wording.
