The idea in everyday life
Open small-surprise-01.kra. Use the supplied script and rough. Nia can remain a circle head and simple line body throughout.
Silhouettes and object continuity carry meaning even when drawing skill is still developing.
Draw readable actions — guided practice
Replace the rough with clear line art while keeping objects consistent.
Open small-surprise-01.kra. Use the supplied script and rough. Nia can remain a circle head and simple line body throughout.
1. Make an ink layer
Reduce Rough opacity in the Layers docker to about 25%. Add a paint layer above it named Ink but below Panels. Select a dark simple brush around 5 pixels.
You should see: The rough stays visible as a faint guide under the new line work.
A new layer preserves the plan while allowing a cleaner pass.
2. Draw the main actions
Trace Nia and the relevant object in panels 1, 3, 5, 6. Keep the same head shape and shirt outline. Use open space between hand, card and body so the action does not merge into a dark knot.
You should see: The same character clearly notices, reaches, writes and leaves.
Consistent shapes and separated contours are easier to read at small size.
3. Draw the information views
In 2 draw a large card with a bold arrow toward a simple bookshelf symbol. In 4 draw an open book with a star on its edge and a large blank card. Keep the repeated star visible in 3.
You should see: The clue leads to the same star-marked book seen at discovery.
An information close-up should prioritize the clue over decorative detail.
4. Hide the construction
Turn Rough visibility off. At 50% zoom inspect every panel. Use E to toggle the brush into erasing and remove stray Ink marks; press E again before drawing. Save As small-surprise-02.kra.
You should see: The story remains readable with the construction sketch hidden.
A clean review distinguishes intentional lines from scaffolding.
What to finish
Clean, consistent line art for all six panels.
Watch for this
Leaving critical actions hidden by overlapping contours.
