What to include

  • Extract the fictional scope, mandatory gate, scoring factors and submission rules.
  • Build a requirement/attachment/evidence matrix preserving M2’s unresolved authority.
  • Write a supported service response with unsupported claims removed.
  • Cross-check the630 base price, unit assumptions, exclusions and750 quantity scenario.
  • Inspect actual draft attachments and prepare an unsent authorized handoff with a labeled score scenario.

Review and revise

Use these criteria to check your work and choose what to improve.

  • Mandatory and scored stages follow the supplied purchaser rules.
  • Claims and authority are supported by the actual fictional evidence.
  • Quantity/unit arithmetic, exclusions and time-offset conversion reconcile.
  • Draft, unresolved, hypothetical, submitted and awarded stages are never conflated.

The idea in everyday life

Fictional procurement exercise RFP F-04: offer four 45-minute skills workshops for a cohort capped at 20 learners, with 20 reusable practice kits and a simple completion report. No credential, employment placement or partnership is promised. Mandatory packet requirements are M1 scope response, M2 vendor form with authorized fictional attestation, M3 complete price worksheet and M4 current insurance evidence listed in the case. Scope, price and insurance evidence are supplied; the vendor-form attestation remains unconfirmed. Only packets meeting the fictional mandatory gate enter scored review: quality up to 60 points and price up to 40. Submission must be through the fictional secure portal by October15 at 15:00 with stated UTC−04:00 offset, equivalent to 19:00 UTC. All work remains unsent; no real vendor status or certification is claimed. These are exercise rules, not universal procurement law. Supplied fictional prices: four workshop deliveries at 120 currency units each;20 reusable kits at 3 each, purchased once for the cohort; platform/reporting charge90 once. The exercise base-price total excludes any tax because no applicable tax rule or amount is supplied. This is a supplied-price check, not advice on tax treatment or a real bid.

The idea

A price worksheet multiplies the right unit by the right quantity. A transparent total states exclusions and assumptions rather than implying unknown charges were resolved.

  1. 1. Copy quantities and units

Write workshop4 at 120 each, reusable kit20 at 3 each and fixed charge1 at 90.

You should see: Three rows use distinct delivery, item and fixed-charge units.

The kits are reused, so the case does not buy80 kits.

  2. 2. Calculate line amounts

Multiply quantity by unit rate for each row.

    You should see: Workshops480; kits60; fixed90.

Line calculations should trace to the supplied units.

  3. 3. Reconcile the base total

Add480+60+90 and state the unpriced tax exclusion/question.

You should see: Base total 630 currency units, with tax unresolved rather than assumed zero legally.

A correct subtotal does not settle unspecified external charges.

  4. 4. Test a quantity change

Model five workshops with the same20 reusable kits and fixed90 charge.

You should see: Changed base total 750:600+60+90.

Only the workshop quantity changes under the stated scenario.

Now change one thing

A separate changed scope requires six workshops at 120 each, unchanged20 reusable kits at 3 each and a fixed90 charge. What is its base total before unspecified tax?

Your work

What to finish

A unit-labeled price cross-check with 630 base total, exclusions and a changed quantity scenario.

Common mistake

Watch for this

Multiplying reusable kits by session count or silently treating unspecified tax as a verified zero.

How can I tell I understand it?

The base total, exclusions and change scenario reconcile.
