An original limited-palette still life in a free raster editor with named layers, controlled edges, a reversible mask, PNG export and native source.

Keep your working files in your own notebook or software. Save a private description, checklist, and work link in My Proof.

What to include

  • Create a limited-palette still life with named object layers.
  • Record canvas pixel dimensions and a stated light source.
  • Demonstrate different hard/soft edge relationships.
  • Hide and restore one region with a transparency mask.
  • Deliver native source, reopened full-canvas PNG and an honest revision/test note.

Review and revise

Use these criteria to check your work and choose what to improve.

  • Composition/value: large forms follow the named light and palette.
  • Layer ownership: objects remain separately editable.
  • Reversibility: mask hide/restore preserves source pixels.
  • Delivery: actual export matches the intended canvas and source.

The idea in everyday life

Save the native source before exporting a separate PNG. Reopen the actual export and compare pixel dimensions, cropping, background, hidden working layers and major value relationships. Keep original source files in your own editor; My Proof stores a project record and optional work link. A paper plan documents preparation but does not establish that native masks/export worked.

The idea

An export should be inspected as its own file.

Follow along

Export and inspect the painted study — worked practice

An export should be inspected as its own file.

Original release checklist: study.kra retains object layers and Cup mask; study.png is 900×600 and has no Palette swatches. A faulty export contains only a selected 300×200 region: reopening exposes the crop even though the source looks correct. The correction exports the complete canvas, then reopens it again. Notes distinguish actual image/source checks from any unperformed print or native-device check.

  1. 1. 6.1 Export

Save the current native document with its named layers and mask. Keep the earlier block-in checkpoint labeled as history, not the current final source.

You should see: The editable source remains separate.

  2. 2. 6.2 Export

Export a separate PNG using the full canvas. Name the target and record dimensions; do not overwrite the only editable source.

You should see: The export uses the full canvas.

  3. 3. 6.3 Export

Reopen the exported PNG and compare it with the final native view. Check that Palette is hidden, edges are not cropped and the background matches your intention.

You should see: The served/delivered file itself is inspected.

  4. 4. 6.4 Export

Package source, PNG, palette/value plan, mask restoration evidence and a concise revision note. Record exactly which native/image checks you performed and which remain unavailable.

You should see: The packet distinguishes native tests from preparation-only notes.

Now change one thing

A new full-canvas PNG has the correct 900×600 dimensions, but the reopened file still shows the Palette swatches. Does it meet the stated final composition requirement? Answer yes or no.

Your work

What to finish

A painted-study packet with layered source, checked PNG and revision evidence.

Common mistake

Watch for this

Verifying only the source view while delivering a cropped or stale export.

How can I tell I understand it?

You can identify the current source/export pair and show that the actual export matches the intended canvas.
