A revised desk-token CAD model, a dimensioned drawing, checked exchange files and a short handoff note.

Keep your working files in your own notebook or software. Save a private description, checklist, and work link in My Proof.

What to include

  • A 60×30×6 mm version A and 70×30×6 mm version B with an 8 mm through-hole at x10, y15.
  • Fully constrained base and hole sketches, with dimensions checked after revision.
  • A digital drawing with units, version and width/depth/thickness/diameter labels.
  • STEP and PDF exports reopened and inspected.
  • Native source and a readme recording the change and limitations.

Review and revise

Use these criteria to check your work and choose what to improve.

  • Geometry follows the stated dimensions and origin.
  • The revision changes the intended parameter without hiding errors.
  • Views and labels communicate size clearly.
  • The source and exported files agree.

The idea in everyday life

Use revision B and the TechDraw page from lesson 5. Target handoff: FCStd, STEP, PDF and a short readme.

The idea

A useful handoff includes both the source and a file another person can inspect.

Follow along

Export and independently inspect — guided practice

Deliver editable geometry and a readable checked drawing.

Use revision B and the TechDraw page from lesson 5. Target handoff: FCStd, STEP, PDF and a short readme.

  1. 1. Export the solid

Select the final Body only. Choose File > Export and STEP. Save desk-token-B.step.

You should see: A STEP geometry file is written.

Selecting the final body avoids exporting intermediate solids.

  2. 2. Reopen separately

Open the STEP file in a new document. Inspect the outline and hole. Use measurement tools to check width 70, depth 30 and thickness 6.

You should see: The reopened geometry agrees with the brief.

Export success does not guarantee that the selected object was correct.

  3. 3. Export the drawing

Return to the source and select the TechDraw page. Use its Export PDF command, or File > Export with PDF where available. Open the PDF in a viewer and inspect all four dimensions.

You should see: One readable drawing page contains the correct version and units.

A viewer check catches clipping and missing objects.

  4. 4. Package the evidence

Create readme.txt with file names, app version, dimensions, hole coordinates, revision change and the geometry-only boundary. Keep the editable FCStd with the exports.

You should see: The handoff has geometry, drawing, source and a reproducibility note.

Future edits require the history-bearing source file.

Now change one thing

A handoff includes FCStd, STEP and README but lacks the readable drawing. Enter the missing extension using PDF exactly.

Your work

What to finish

A checked CAD handoff with source, STEP, PDF and readme.

Common mistake

Watch for this

Treating a successful save as a complete verification.

How can I tell I understand it?

1The exported STEP contains an uncut block and the final holed body. What likely happened?
2Which file best preserves editable sketch constraints?
3A PDF opens but cuts off the diameter label. Is the handoff complete?
