Review: Listen, notice print, and tell a little story
With an adult, connect a few sounds to print, retell supplied events, and dictate a matching caption. This is a short supplementary unit.
Bring the unit skills together
Use these 4 new cases to check your reasoning. Choices are temporary and are not saved to an account, sent to staff or recorded as school grades. Download your current review choices before leaving or reloading.
The download contains your current choices and any checked feedback. Keep the separate transfer-task work in your own document; downloading its instructions does not mark it complete.
Use the skills in a new task
Adult reads this new little story: “Mia finds a sock. Mia puts the sock in a bag. Mia closes the bag.” Help the learner say another /s/ word from sun, moon, and map; point to s in the printed pair m / s; retell the story; and dictate a caption for a pretend picture of Mia holding the sock. No independent reading or spelling is required.
Work on paper or in your own document. Explain the choices you made.
- Choose sun as another /s/ word.
- Point to lowercase s when the adult models /s/.
- Retell finding, putting, and closing in that order.
- Dictate a caption matching Mia holding the sock.
Compare with a model response
“Sock and sun start with /s/. I point to s. First Mia finds the sock, next puts it in the bag, and last closes the bag. My caption is ‘Mia holds a sock.’” An adult writes and reads back the caption; the caption describes the supplied picture, while the retell describes the story.
A different response can also meet the criteria. Compare the evidence and reasoning, rather than copying the wording.
