  • All cases, labels, numbers and rules are supplied on this page. No real account, private information or purchase is needed.

Learn the idea

A tally of picture cards tells how many recorded choices appear. Count each card once. If the key says one card is one choice, three cards mean three choices. The total describes this record; it does not tell us what everyone everywhere likes. A computer can store counts, but the meaning comes from the key.

Count the cards one at a time and use the stated one-card-one-choice key. Count cards rather than the number of different pictures.

Use this supplied case: Key: one star card is one recorded choice. A row has 2 star cards. How many choices are recorded? Use the details in this example. An adult may read the words aloud. Point, draw or say your answer.

  1. Follow the worked example one step at a time. Say or draw what happens.
  2. Count the cards one at a time and use the stated one-card-one-choice key.
  3. Say which detail makes the example answer fit. Pick another answer and say why it does not fit.
  4. Try the question and practice questions. Read the rule again if your answer does not match the explanation.
