Review: First Conversations with Supplied Identities
A short exchange works when the reply addresses the actual question and respects the situation. Use the fictional identities given here; nobody needs to disclose a real name, location or age.
Bring the unit skills together
Use these 4 new cases to check your reasoning. Choices are temporary and are not saved to an account, sent to staff or recorded as school grades. Download your current review choices before leaving or reloading.
The download contains your current choices and any checked feedback. Keep the separate transfer-task work in your own document; downloading its instructions does not mark it complete.
Use the skills in a new task
Create a four-part Spanish practice sheet from the following supplied situations. 1. The fictional scene explicitly says 16:30, afternoon. Which supplied time-specific greeting matches the stated period? Candidate answers: (A) Buenas noches (B) Buenas tardes (C) Buenos días (D) Hasta mañana. 2. The fictional speaker is Eva. Someone asks this speaker “¿Cómo te llamas?” (What is your name?). Which reply gives the assigned speaker’s own name? Candidate answers: (A) Me llamo Eva. (B) Se llama Eva. (C) Soy de Lima. (D) Te llamas Eva. 3. Fictional record: origin Caracas; current location Toledo. The speaker is asked “¿De dónde eres?” Which supplied reply gives origin? Candidate answers: (A) Estoy en Toledo. (B) Me llamo Caracas. (C) Son las dos. (D) Soy de Caracas. 4. The fictional speaker needs to ask for help respectfully. Which supplied phrase performs exactly that move? Glosses: repetir=repeat; más despacio=more slowly; ayudarme=help me; gracias=thanks. Candidate answers: (A) De nada. (B) Muchas gracias. (C) ¿Puede ayudarme, por favor? (D) ¿Puede repetir, por favor?
Work on paper or in your own document. Explain the choices you made.
- Use the exact supplied situation and speaker rather than personal details.
- Show the relevant word ending, evidence phrase, time cue or meaning distinction.
- Write all four requested results with accents and punctuation.
- Explain one rejected alternative and check that meaning remains faithful to the input.
Compare with a model response
1. Buenas tardes. The scene labels its period directly: 16:30, afternoon. Buenas tardes is the matching time greeting. Hasta mañana means see you tomorrow and is a farewell, not the requested greeting. 2. Me llamo Eva. The reply comes from Eva, so the first-person phrase is Me llamo. Add the supplied name: Me llamo Eva. Se llama describes another person, te llamas addresses you, and soy de gives an origin. 3. Soy de Caracas. De dónde eres asks origin, so select Soy de Caracas. Estoy en Toledo answers current location. The other alternatives answer a name-like statement or clock time instead of the supplied origin. 4. ¿Puede ayudarme, por favor? The stated aim is to ask for help respectfully. ¿Puede ayudarme, por favor? directly performs that function. The rejected phrases may be polite but serve another purpose, so their politeness alone does not make them answer this scene.
A different response can also meet the criteria. Compare the evidence and reasoning, rather than copying the wording.
