Use the skills in a new task
Plan a fictional 25-cup batch with blue:white = 2:3. A fictional pump delivers 20 cups in 4 minutes at a constant rate. Find ingredient amounts, the pump unit rate and time for the batch, and the percent blue. Write two valid ordered pairs (blue, white), including your batch and a batch half as large. No actual mixing is required.
Work on paper or in your own document. Explain the choices you made.
- Scale the five-cup recipe to 10 blue and 15 white.
- Find 5 cups/minute and a 5-minute pumping time.
- Compute blue as 10/25 = 40% of the whole.
- Record (10,15) and (5,7.5), keeping blue first.
Compare with a model response
25 ÷ 5 = 5, so the batch uses 10 cups blue and 15 cups white. The pump rate is 20 ÷ 4 = 5 cups/minute; 25 ÷ 5 = 5 minutes. Blue is 10/25 = 2/5 = 40%. The pairs (10,15) and (5,7.5) preserve the same ratio.
A different response can also meet the criteria. Compare the evidence and reasoning, rather than copying the wording.
