Review: Measure with Fraction Operations
Join, remove, select, and count fraction lengths using consistent units.
Bring the unit skills together
Use these 4 new cases to check your reasoning. Choices are temporary and are not saved to an account, sent to staff or recorded as school grades. Download your current review choices before leaving or reloading.
The download contains your current choices and any checked feedback. Keep the separate transfer-task work in your own document; downloading its instructions does not mark it complete.
Use the skills in a new task
Write a pretend measurement plan. Join a 1/2-meter strip and a 1/3-meter strip, then remove 1/4 meter from the total. Separately, find 2/3 of a 3/4-meter strip. Also find how many 1/5-meter pieces fit in a 2-meter roll. Show equations and label each answer as a length or piece count.
Work on paper or in your own document. Explain the choices you made.
- Add 1/2 + 1/3 = 5/6 meter.
- Subtract 1/4 to obtain 7/12 meter using twelfths.
- Multiply 2/3 × 3/4 = 1/2 meter.
- Divide 2 ÷ 1/5 = 10 pieces and check 10 × 1/5 = 2 meters.
Compare with a model response
The joined length is 3/6 + 2/6 = 5/6 meter. Removing 1/4 gives 10/12 − 3/12 = 7/12 meter. Two thirds of three quarters is 6/12 = 1/2 meter. Two meters contain ten fifth-meter pieces because 10 × 1/5 = 2 meters.
A different response can also meet the criteria. Compare the evidence and reasoning, rather than copying the wording.
