Review: Choose, Count and Test Decisions

Apply a condition, repeat it across items and test both branches of a rule.

Bring the unit skills together

Use these 4 new cases to check your reasoning. Choices are temporary and are not saved to an account, sent to staff or recorded as school grades. Download your current review choices before leaving or reloading.

Unit review questions
1. Rule: star cards → A; all others → B. A card contains a circle and no star. Which branch runs?
2. Rule: if score ≥ 7 write ready; else wait. What happens at fictional score 7?
3. Start matches = 0 and add 1 for each triangle in triangle, star, circle, triangle. What is the final count?
4. Goal: square cards give S, others give O. A draft writes O in both branches. Which test exposes its error?

The download contains your current choices and any checked feedback. Keep the separate transfer-task work in your own document; downloading its instructions does not mark it complete.

Use the skills in a new task

Create and test a sorter for fictional cards: if a card has a triangle, write T; otherwise write O. Process triangle, circle, triangle, star and count only the T outputs. Repair a draft that writes O for triangle cards.

Work on paper or in your own document. Explain the choices you made.

  • State the triangle condition and both output actions.
  • Produce outputs T, O, T, O in order.
  • Trace matches from 0 to 1, 1, 2, 2.
  • Use both a triangle test and a non-triangle test to verify the repair.
Compare with a model response

Rule: triangle → T; else → O. Outputs: T, O, T, O. Starting matches = 0, add 1 for each T: 1, 1, 2, 2; final matches = 2. Replace the draft’s triangle action with T. Triangle should give T and circle should give O; both pass after repair.

A different response can also meet the criteria. Compare the evidence and reasoning, rather than copying the wording.
