Bring the unit skills together
Use these 4 new cases to check your reasoning. Choices are temporary and are not saved to an account, sent to staff or recorded as school grades. Download your current review choices before leaving or reloading.
The download contains your current choices and any checked feedback. Keep the separate transfer-task work in your own document; downloading its instructions does not mark it complete.
Use the skills in a new task
Make a short complete response demonstrating the four skills in this unit. Rewrite: Yesterday I go home. Expected: Yesterday I went home. Add an adjective to home or a nearby noun, an adverb describing went, and a because reason. Write a question about the same event with a question mark. Longer writing targets in optional extensions can be completed in a later session.
Work on paper or in your own document. Explain the choices you made.
- Locate the stated past verb and match it to its base form. Use the two forms in present and past sentences.
- Find the word the highlighted description belongs to. Decide whether it modifies an object or an action.
- Find the connector and say what it tells about the two parts. Try restating that relation in your own words.
- Read the sentence and name its purpose before checking its punctuation. Use a suitable voice.
Compare with a model response
Yesterday I went to the quiet home slowly because it rained. Went is the irregular past of go. Quiet describes home, so it is an adjective; slowly describes went, so it is an adverb. Because connects the action to its reason. My question is: Did I go home yesterday? It ends with a question mark. I do not write goed or wented.
A different response can also meet the criteria. Compare the evidence and reasoning, rather than copying the wording.
