A checked dispatch manifest, package and label plan, carrier-handoff record, and delivery-exception log using fictional parcels.

Keep your working files in your own notebook or software. Save a private description, checklist, and work link in My Proof.

What to include

  • A uniquely identified dispatch manifest and hold entry.
  • A package specification with limit checks.
  • A label-to-order verification log.
  • A carrier-handoff log with unresolved evidence.
  • A delivery-exception file and status-update draft.
  • A final dispatch packet with reconciled status totals and follow-up ownership.

Review and revise

Use these criteria to check your work and choose what to improve.

  • Every required section is present and traceable to the supplied case facts.
  • Decisions separate known facts, assumptions, and unresolved questions.
  • Records, calculations, and instructions agree with each other and the stated rules.
  • The final revision addresses a changed case and explains what someone should do next.

The idea in everyday life

Final June 15 records: P1/T101 delivered, no unresolved task; P2/T102 delivered, no unresolved task; P3/T103 address issue still under authorized review by Lee, next update June 16. Planned batch is 3 parcels. U1 remained HOLD outside the batch. Closure policy requires delivery evidence and no outstanding assigned action.

The idea

A batch can be complete as a record even when a delivery case remains open.

Reconcile and close dispatch — guided practice

Close supported cases while preserving outstanding ownership.

Use a text editor, a free document editor, or paper. Start from the following fictional records; they reset this lesson even if your earlier answer differed. Final June 15 records: P1/T101 delivered, no unresolved task; P2/T102 delivered, no unresolved task; P3/T103 address issue still under authorized review by Lee, next update June 16. Planned batch is 3 parcels. U1 remained HOLD outside the batch. Closure policy requires delivery evidence and no outstanding assigned action.

  1. 1. Match all IDs

Compare planned parcels with the final tracking records.

You should see: P1, P2 and P3 each appear exactly once.

Reconciliation checks coverage as well as totals.

  2. 2. Apply closure rule

Close only records with both required conditions.

You should see: P1 and P2 CLOSED; P3 OPEN.

An outstanding action prevents premature closure.

  3. 3. Keep the hold separate

Retain U1’s hold record without adding it to dispatched totals.

You should see: U1 remains with Lee; dispatched count stays 3.

A held item is not evidence of dispatch.

  4. 4. Assemble the project

Combine manifest, package/label checks, handoff and exception logs.

You should see: A complete three-parcel packet with one clearly owned open case.

The artifact can be finished without inventing a successful delivery.

Now change one thing

A five-parcel batch has three closed cases. Enter open cases.

Your work

What to finish

A final dispatch packet with reconciled status totals and follow-up ownership.

Common mistake

Watch for this

Calling the whole batch closed to make the dashboard look better.

How can I tell I understand it?

Check your result against the worked example, then explain the changed case without using an unstated assumption.

1A batch has 10 unique parcels; final records cover 9 IDs. What is missing?
2Delivery is confirmed but a recorded damage complaint remains unresolved. Under the stated closure rule, what is the status?
3A shipment remains under carrier review when the learner finishes. What makes the project complete?
