A fictional benefits-navigation packet with need map, verified-source record, requirement questions, document index, conversation script, and follow-up timeline.

Keep your working files in your own notebook or software. Save a private description, checklist, and work link in My Proof.

What to include

  • A need map with three time-bounded needs, an immediate route, an ongoing route, and unanswered questions.
  • A source record with publisher, location, date, official contact route, and one unresolved geographic question.
  • A requirement-reading sheet with supported facts, missing information, and three program questions.
  • A mock document index with purpose, status, verified-channel questions, and a minimal sharing rule.
  • A mock conversation script with three questions, an access request, and a read-back of next steps.
  • A complete navigation packet with a status timeline, change questions, and one documented improvement.

Review and revise

Use these criteria to check your work and choose what to improve.

  • Need and source accuracy: separates immediate needs from ongoing routes and records the administering source, location, and date without treating a listing as approval.
  • Requirement reading: distinguishes supplied facts, missing evidence, and program interpretations; correctly totals the fictional gross earnings without deciding eligibility.
  • Document and conversation control: uses fictional document labels, verified-channel questions, an access request, and a precise read-back of next steps.
  • Follow-up usability: keeps receipt, missing-item notice, decision, and reporting questions distinct; a reader can locate the next item, deadline, and responsible contact route.

Before you begin

The idea in everyday life

Preparation continues after an application or conversation. A receipt may show that something arrived without showing that it was accepted as complete. Decisions, requests for more information, and renewals need their own entries. The final practice assembles earlier work and tests whether it helps a learner find the next question without exposing personal records.

The idea

Receipt, decision, payment, and renewal are separate events to track.

Try it

One step at a time.

Use the sample or information you have permission to use. Keep your work as you go. You can pause between steps.

  1. 1

Combine the need map, source record, requirement sheet, document index, and conversation script. Check that names, invented dates, and open questions agree across all five pieces before adding a timeline.

  2. 2

Enter the supplied receipt, notice, and response deadline as separate events. Record the notice’s actual status, then link the missing item to the document index and choose an earlier preparation date.

  3. 3

Add a change log with event, possible program relevance, and verification question. Treat the schedule change as a prompt to ask about current reporting rules, not permission to guess or omit information.

  4. 4

Rehearse finding the next action in under two minutes using only your packet. Correct one ambiguity, label the entire case fictional, and note where a qualified agency or adviser would be needed for a real contested decision.

Example

See how it works.

Fictional practice: River’s timeline has a sample upload receipt on September 18, a missing-item notice on September 20, and a response deadline of September 27 at 5 p.m. The notice gives a verified office route for questions but no decision. River marks the status “additional information requested,” links the missing item to the document index, and sets a preparation date of September 24. A second scenario changes River’s training schedule; River asks whether and how the real program would require reporting that change. The packet records the question without asserting a reporting rule or an entitlement.

Check your work

Did you cover these?

  • Receipt and decision are separate statuses
  • The response deadline and preparation date are visible
  • One rehearsal problem is corrected
Your work

What to finish

A complete navigation packet with a status timeline, change questions, and one documented improvement.

Common mistake

Watch for this

Confusing an upload receipt with approval or assuming every program uses one reporting deadline.

How can I tell I understand it?

You can demonstrate all three checks using your lesson deliverable and explain the reason for each decision.

1A sample upload receipt arrives on June 2; a June 4 notice requests one more item by June 11. What is the correct status?
2A household’s work hours change, but the real program’s reporting rules are unknown. What belongs in the change log?
3During rehearsal, River cannot tell which contact handles a notice. Which revision improves the packet?
