A fictional benefits-navigation packet with need map, verified-source record, requirement questions, document index, conversation script, and follow-up timeline.

Keep your working files in your own notebook or software. Save a private description, checklist, and work link in My Proof.

What to include

  • A need map with three time-bounded needs, an immediate route, an ongoing route, and unanswered questions.
  • A source record with publisher, location, date, official contact route, and one unresolved geographic question.
  • A requirement-reading sheet with supported facts, missing information, and three program questions.
  • A mock document index with purpose, status, verified-channel questions, and a minimal sharing rule.
  • A mock conversation script with three questions, an access request, and a read-back of next steps.
  • A complete navigation packet with a status timeline, change questions, and one documented improvement.

Review and revise

Use these criteria to check your work and choose what to improve.

  • Need and source accuracy: separates immediate needs from ongoing routes and records the administering source, location, and date without treating a listing as approval.
  • Requirement reading: distinguishes supplied facts, missing evidence, and program interpretations; correctly totals the fictional gross earnings without deciding eligibility.
  • Document and conversation control: uses fictional document labels, verified-channel questions, an access request, and a precise read-back of next steps.
  • Follow-up usability: keeps receipt, missing-item notice, decision, and reporting questions distinct; a reader can locate the next item, deadline, and responsible contact route.

The idea in everyday life

A preparation folder should reduce confusion without becoming a collection of exposed personal records. In this course, document names and invented dates are enough. Real programs may need sensitive evidence through designated channels, but a classroom exercise never needs identity numbers, bank statements, benefit credentials, or copies of someone else’s documents.

The idea

Track what a document proves, where it is kept, and who needs it.

Try it

One step at a time.

Use the sample or information you have permission to use. Keep your work as you go. You can pause between steps.

  1. 1

Build an index with document label, purpose, date range, available or missing status, and intended submission channel. Populate it with the three fictional document labels, not actual personal records.

  2. 2

Match each document to a requirement or appointment. If its purpose is unclear, add a question rather than collecting extra information; unnecessary copies create handling work without improving the preparation.

  3. 3

Write a storage and sharing rule: restrict access, use the program’s verified channel, and keep a record of what was sent. Do not send material during this exercise or test a channel with real identifiers.

  4. 4

Flag the personal-address request and the missing earnings record. Draft separate verification questions about the authorized channel and acceptable alternatives, then remove any unnecessary personal detail from the index.

Example

See how it works.

Fictional practice: Harbor’s sample checklist asks for proof of residence, a recent earnings record, and an appointment notice. River creates entries “residence sample,” “earnings sample September,” and “appointment sample September 18.” The index records each item’s purpose, status, and imagined secure location; it contains no actual file or account number. A message asks River to send everything to a personal address. River marks the request unverified and prepares to confirm the submission channel through the agency’s established contact route. For a missing earnings record, the question asks which alternatives the program accepts instead of making a substitute claim.

Check your work

Did you cover these?

  • Only fictional labels appear
  • Each item has a purpose and status
  • Unverified submission requests are flagged
Your work

What to finish

A mock document index with purpose, status, verified-channel questions, and a minimal sharing rule.

Common mistake

Watch for this

Uploading real documents to demonstrate completion or treating any message as an authorized request.

How can I tell I understand it?

You can demonstrate all three checks using your lesson deliverable and explain the reason for each decision.

1A course worksheet asks for an example identity document. What is the appropriate submission?
2A mock checklist needs earnings for August, but the index lists only June. Which status is accurate?
3A new text message requests documents at an unfamiliar address. What is the best first action?
