See this course’s project requirements

A fictional reconciled self-employment tax-record package with gross receipts, expenses, mixed-use support, profit and a practice estimated-payment schedule.

Keep your working files in your own notebook or software. Save a private description, checklist, and work link in My Proof.

What to include

  • A gross-to-payout and net-receipt reconciliation.
  • A purpose/evidence classification and qualified-review list.
  • A mixed-use source and two-part allocation schedule.
  • A reconciled practice profit and exclusions bridge.
  • An invented estimated-payment arithmetic schedule with current-rule questions.
  • A qualified-preparer record handoff with reconciliations and explicit open questions.

Review and revise

Use these criteria to check your work and choose what to improve.

  • Receipts: gross/fee/refund/payout sources reconcile.
  • Classification: personal/capital/pending items are distinct.
  • Arithmetic: allocation/profit/invented estimate checks agree.
  • Handoff: actual rules are questions, no filed-return or private credential claim.

The idea in everyday life

Original fictional practice. All money is USD. No account, payment, personal record or outside participation is required. Fictional cash-basis tutor record year: cash client receipts 6,000; platform gross payments 5,000, withheld fees 500, payout 4,500; client refunds 400. Expenses: supported business supplies 900, platform fees 500, internet 600 with documented 40% business use, work travel 400 with supplied business purpose. Personal meals 300 excluded. Owner withdrawal 1,000 and owner contribution 2,000 are capital movements. Equipment purchase 1,200 is separately flagged for qualified capital/tax review, not deducted by the exercise. Practice profit uses only the expressly allowed expense categories. Invented estimate rule: annual levy 18% of practice profit, less credit 300, remaining in four equal checkpoint payments; no US tax rate/due-date/safe-harbor claim. Original usage record LOG-40 supplies ten equal-duration connection sessions, each ten minutes: B1–B4 are four business sessions for tutor scheduling/lesson preparation; P1–P6 are six personal sessions for leisure viewing. Thus business minutes are 40 of total 100, giving the case’s supplied 40% share. The fictional policy adopts this share for the record-year exercise; this small invented log does not demonstrate representative annual real-world use or legal eligibility.

The idea

A preparer handoff preserves sources and questions rather than pretending unknown rules are settled.

  1. 1. 6.1 Prepare

Index all source IDs, and attach net receipt/fee/refund/expenditure bridges.

You should see: Another reviewer can reproduce profit.

  2. 2. 6.2 Prepare

Include mixed use logs, capital movements and pending equipment questions without guessed treatment.

You should see: Uncertainty is a useful handoff item.

  3. 3. 6.3 Prepare

Add current jurisdiction/year/form/estimate/retention questions for official or qualified review.

You should see: The file is not a legal completed return.

  4. 4. 6.4 Prepare

Create a fictional project summary/checklist/link without real account credentials or unnecessary private identity.

You should see: Learning record and original source files stay distinct.

Now change one thing

A changed handoff omits the platform fee/payout bridge while claiming reconciled gross income. Is that specific claim supported? Answer yes or no.

Your work

What to finish

A qualified-preparer record handoff with reconciliations and explicit open questions.

Common mistake

Watch for this

Uploading bank passwords or claiming a tax return was filed from fictional practice.

How can I tell I understand it?
