Export three effects with design notes
See this course’s project requirements
Three original short generated sound effects with waveform/frequency plans, controlled amplitude envelopes, checked WAV exports and use notes; no microphones or licensed samples required.
Keep your working files in your own notebook or software. Save a private description, checklist, and work link in My Proof.
What to include
- Write three event briefs with measurable parameters and nonaudio equivalents.
- Generate original tone/sweep effects with onset/release plans.
- Calculate layered peak bounds and retain digital headroom.
- Deliver three actual WAV files with format/duration evidence.
- Distinguish generator tests, native editor checks and optional listening.
Review and revise
Use these criteria to check your work and choose what to improve.
- Design: parameters serve a stated fictional event.
- Signal controls: frequency/envelope/peak reasoning is correct.
- Artifact: headers/frames match the stated output.
- Evidence: listening/native limits are accurately reported.

The idea in everyday life
The provided Python 3 stdlib script writes three mono 16-bit PCM files at 22050 samples/second and a parameter/evidence JSON. Run it in a new local folder. A code check verifies format, frame counts, endpoint ramps and peak bounds; it does not demonstrate Audacity native editing or playback quality. Optional listening should begin at low volume.
Headers and samples verify the actual audio files.
Export three effects with design notes — worked practice
Headers and samples verify the actual audio files.
Expected frames: Confirm 0.4×22050=8820; Reset 0.6×22050=13230; Tap 0.12×22050=2646. The generator reopens each WAV header and checks mono/2 byte/22050 format plus the frame count. One export at the wrong sample rate would fail the format check even if its file extension says .wav. Notes include the event meaning and matching text equivalent.
1. 6.1 Export
Place generate_sounds.py in a clean practice folder and run “python3 generate_sounds.py”. Inspect outputs/evidence.json and the three generated WAV files.
You should see: Three actual files are generated.
2. 6.2 Export
Reconcile each duration as frames/sample rate and check channel count, sample width and rate. Use the supplied assertions rather than assuming an extension proves format.
You should see: Headers and frame counts match the expected durations.
3. 6.3 Export
If playback is available, inspect onset/ending at low volume and record only what you heard in that environment. Keep unperformed native/listening checks explicit.
You should see: Playback evidence is separate from code evidence.
4. 6.4 Export
Package original briefs, generator or native source, three WAV exports, parameters and use notes. State that interface cues retain equivalent text.
You should see: The packet contains original audio and nonaudio meaning.
What to finish
A three-effect WAV packet with source/parameter/test evidence.
Watch for this
Claiming listening/native editor success from only numerical tests.
How can I tell I understand it?
You can independently reconcile each file’s format and duration.

Read control-point amplitude changes, envelope zero limitation and effect/render caveat. Python fixture uses explicit linear ramps, not a false claim that Audacity envelope points reach exact zero.
