Check availability and build a backup
See this course’s project requirements
A compact fictional access plan: a needs card, three-offer annual cost table, changed-input choice, availability gate and backup questions.
Keep your working files in your own notebook or software. Save a private description, checklist, and work link in My Proof.
What to include
- A needs card with data quantity, upload-rate threshold, device/use requirements and unknown coverage marked separately.
- Three complete twelve-month comparisons including promotion periods, equipment, setup and stated excess-data charges; one changed-use recalculation.
- A revised decision after the supplied availability replies, an unsent provider question and one provisional backup route.
Review and revise
Use these criteria to check your work and choose what to improve.
- GB/MB quantity and Mbps rate are never treated as the same unit; the supplied task constraints are retained.
- Every month and one-time cost is counted once, and partial excess-data blocks follow the supplied fictional rule.
- The decision changes when the relevant need or availability changes; excluded plans have a named reason.
- Real availability, compatibility, performance and assistance are kept pending until verified; no purchase, free service or subsidy eligibility is claimed.

The idea in everyday life
Use the original 60 GB/month costs and needs. The following replies and backup sites are entirely fictional. A works at the practice location with the supplied compatible laptop/hotspot setup and calls permitted. B is not offered there. C is available but remains 2 Mbps. Community Room permits a laptop call on Wednesday 18:00–20:00; Ellis needs Wednesday 19:00–19:30, and the room’s actual upload performance is untested. Library computers allow downloads Monday/Wednesday 17:00–20:00 but prohibit calls.
Eligibility for the task includes availability and compatibility. A backup is a plan with permitted use and open questions, not a guaranteed connection.
Check availability and build a backup — worked practice
Eligibility for the task includes availability and compatibility. A backup is a plan with permitted use and open questions, not a guaranteed connection.
Add the supplied reply status to your comparison. A real provider inquiry would use contact information independently located on the provider’s known official site. Here write only an UNSENT — FICTIONAL draft; no external search or actual contact is required. No program discount is applied to the practice costs.
Supplied practice-location replies

| APlan | BAvailable here? | CCompatible laptop and calls? | DRate screen |
|---|---|---|---|
| A | Yes | Yes, permitted hotspot/setup supplied | 5 Mbps meets supplied minimum |
| B | No | Otherwise compatible and permitted | 10 Mbps meets rate but location fails |
| C | Yes | Yes | 2 Mbps fails supplied minimum |

1. Apply the new access evidence
Mark B unavailable and carry forward the original data/rate screens.
You should see: A passes all supplied case gates. B fails location availability; C fails the 3 Mbps rate requirement.
The feasible set changes when a required access condition fails.
2. Revise the choice and write a question
Choose the remaining fitting offer and write one unsent confirmation question about terms and actual performance.
You should see: Provisional original-case choice: A at $620/year. Draft: “Please confirm the stated fees, 50 GB monthly allowance, started-block charges and permitted laptop hotspot use for the relevant service, and how I can check actual access/performance before committing.”
The fictional reply is not a real performance or contract guarantee.
3. Match the backup to the task
Check Wednesday 19:00–19:30 against hours, permitted use and unknown performance.
You should see: Community Room’s time and call permission fit, but performance/access remain unverified. Library call permission fails; it may instead help with allowed downloads.
A route that is open can still be unsuitable for the particular task.
4. Assemble the short access plan
Combine the need card, annual table, changed-use result, supplied availability decision and backup questions.
You should see: The plan retains 60 GB/month, at least 3 Mbps, A at $620/year after B is excluded, plus the separate 40 GB provisional comparison. Official assistance information is a possible later question, not an approved discount or purchase.
A clear record says what is known, what changed and what still needs confirmation.
What to finish
A revised original-case decision, one unsent official-channel question, a provisional backup card and the assembled access plan.
Watch for this
Keeping the cheapest plan after it fails availability or presenting public Wi-Fi or a subsidy as a guaranteed solution.
How can I tell I understand it?
Change the preferred plan when new supplied availability evidence changes the feasible choices.
