Build evidence for the exact qualification
See this course’s project requirements
Build and check a practice application that follows one named public employer's hiring process.
Keep your working files in your own notebook or software. Save a private description, checklist, and work link in My Proof.
What to include
- Identify the actual employer, hiring route, and official source.
- Extract eligibility, qualifications, documents, evaluation steps, and deadlines.
- Map qualifications to truthful dated evidence and résumé content.
- Draft supplemental responses and supported self-ratings.
- Include a staged filing calendar, procedural question, and final audit status.
Review and revise
Use these criteria to check your work and choose what to improve.
- Route accuracy: the packet identifies the employer and separates eligibility, assessment, and vacancy stages.
- Evidence integrity: duties, dates, hours, results, and self-ratings are truthful and consistent.
- Instruction compliance: all items in the mock announcement appear in readable form within stated limits.
- Process control: deadlines, unresolved questions, and draft/submission/hiring statuses are recorded accurately.

The idea in everyday life
A reviewer cannot safely infer every skill from a job title. Relevant evidence explains what you did, under what conditions, and with what result. Public applications can also request dates and hours that help interpret experience. Household, school, and volunteer work may demonstrate abilities, but an agency decides whether they satisfy a formal qualification.
A reviewer should be able to connect a requirement to an observable example.
One step at a time.
Use the sample or information you have permission to use. Keep your work as you go. You can pause between steps.
- 1
List each required skill or experience phrase from the gate sheet. Beside it, write one specific example with a task, context, and observable result. Leave a blank where the evidence is genuinely missing.
- 2
Add truthful month-and-year dates, hours per week where requested, and the type of experience: paid, volunteer, school, or household. If dates are uncertain, verify them before real use rather than manufacturing precision.
- 3
For federal practice, follow the currently verified USAJOBS résumé maximum of two pages and its requested relevant experience details. For a state or local practice packet, use that announcement’s format and length instructions.
- 4
Prioritize evidence that directly addresses the requirement. Rewrite vague claims into plain language a reviewer can understand. Do not convert a classroom simulation into professional experience or claim that an unofficial hours calculation guarantees agency qualification.
See how it works.
Fictional practice case: Ari’s sample experience is eight months at a community center, ten hours weekly, entering reservation records and checking dates. A requirement asks for accurate records and responding to inquiries. Ari writes: entered 120 fictional reservation records, identified six missing dates, and asked the coordinator to confirm them before filing. A second example describes answering routine booking questions from an approved information sheet. The matrix gives dates as February–September of the practice year and labels the work volunteer. Ari does not claim eight months of full-time experience; whether those hours meet the public employer’s standard remains an agency question.
Did you cover these?
- Map each requirement to evidence or a visible gap.
- Label dates, hours, and experience type where relevant.
- Follow the stated résumé length and format.
What to finish
A qualification matrix and a concise résumé evidence section with dates and scope.
Watch for this
Using impressive labels or invented hours in place of verifiable duties.
How can I tell I understand it?
Every claim has an example and an honest description of its setting.

Verified current guidance states a two-page résumé maximum and asks for relevant dates, hours per week, and qualification evidence. Learners recheck the announcement and current guidance before a real application.
