THE LIFE STARTER · FICTIONAL REVIEWER CALIBRATION
Practice method HOST-PRACTICE-1 · 2026-10-02
Original fictional examples; proposed, unvalidated learning activities.

Case: Morgan. Sample response: "2400 - 1450 - 550 - 200 = 200 left. The on-site course costs 420, so I need 270 more from my 150 training savings. Remote costs 100 and leaves 50. I would wait because cheaper does not mean the course is useful. Waiting delays starting, but avoids spending before I know this course is recognized. I would ask an employer whether it recognizes this specific training and ask the provider how many completers got relevant jobs, over what period, and how placements were checked. The ad does not prove it."

Worked proposed ratings: budget 2, cost/affordability 2, conditional decision 2, verification 2; total 8/8. Waiting is acceptable. A different choice with the same evidence boundaries can earn the same rating.

Second sample: "I have $300 left. On-site is $420 and I only have $150 saved. I will take remote because it's cheaper. I will do research."
Worked proposed ratings: budget 0 (no usable method and wrong remainder); costs 1 (on-site total and savings named, remote total and savings difference omitted); decision 1 (price rationale but no uncertainty/tradeoff); verification 1 (generic research); total 3/8. Reviewers should record differences rather than silently average them.
