THE LIFE STARTER · ACCESS AND DELIVERY READINESS
Practice method HOST-PRACTICE-1 · 2026-10-02
Original fictional examples; proposed, unvalidated learning activities.

A practical checklist for the actual host. Every item starts UNKNOWN. Record device/browser, date, scope, observed result, issue owner and retest evidence. Do not mark unavailable checks passed. This is not a WCAG conformance audit, VPAT/ACR or accessibility certification.

- Keyboard: reach controls and links, see focus, operate forms and return from menus without a pointer.
- Zoom and narrow view: try enlarged text and a small viewport; inspect labels, tables, downloads and error feedback for clipping. A simulated viewport does not verify a physical phone.
- Reading and assistive access: check headings, labels, meaningful link names, instructions and feedback with intended users/technology where feasible. No screen-reader test is established by an HTML label alone.
- Formats: inspect the actual downloaded TXT, CSV, PDF or workbook. Check a printable/oral alternative. Browser downloads do not make interactive site features work offline. Native spreadsheet behavior needs its own test.
- Saving and returning: use isolated fictional accounts where writes are needed; test plan-to-activity, lesson feedback, project save, leave and return. Preserve private records and test role restrictions.
- Shared devices: sign out, remove downloaded private copies through the host's process, and check another account cannot see saved work. Guest/browser data is device-specific.
- Support: confirm actual roles, capacity, permissions, safeguarding, incident and accessibility request arrangements before recruitment. Previously deferred email delivery/recovery is not assumed working.

Agree alternatives with learners and the host, document assistance and unresolved barriers, and make a responsible START / DELAY decision. Store completed checks in the host's approved system.
